How to Remove Old Stains From Carpets
It’s always best to tackle a carpet stain as soon as possible. When you’re stuck facing a stubborn old stain in your carpet, you may be able to get the job done for less than one dollar. Hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle is a good answer to how to remove old stains from carpets.
If the particles of the stain need to be loosened up, fully saturate the stain with your spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide. After waiting between 10 and 15 minutes, use a stiff brush to help loosen it more. Next, use a steam vac that will remove the hydrogen peroxide from your carpet. If needed, you could also use old towels to absorb the moisture. You will hopefully find that your carpet now looks stain-free.
How to Remove Coffee Stains From Carpets
Coffee stains on your carpeting can be stubborn as well as unsightly. The following four-step process should remove the stain:
- Apply warm water to the coffee stain in order to loosen the dried coffee. Use a dry white cloth to blot the area beginning at the edges of the stain and working toward the center. Continue this process of wetting and blotting the stain until no more coffee transfers onto your cloth from the flooring.
- In a dish, use a spoon to mix 2 cups of warm water plus 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
- Using a clean cloth, apply the cleaner, first blotting the edges of the stain and always moving inward. Use a dry towel for blotting and lifting the stains from the carpet, as well.
- Rinse the area with cool water and then use a towel to soak up the moisture. Until the spot is completely dried, make sure no one walks on that part of the carpet.
